Going to sleep in shock

Having watched the horror and terror on CNN all day, I am going to sleep now hoping all you guys in America are fine and will be fine. I hope my meeting here in Malaysia will be fine despite the scare of bombing the Petronas buildings here in Kula Lumpur

The Attacks

To those concerned,

I would like to offer my condolences to those affected by the terrorist acts that led to the hijacking of four passenger planes yesterday and the eventual 'bombing' of the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon using the same planes. As many have said, this was a well-organised and calculated move and I believe that we should all not rush into pointing fingers at suspects until we are hundred percent sure of who is responsible. Personally I condemn this act. I believe that the attackers meant to attack the capitalist world whose face can be America, MacDonalds, WTO and the World Trade Centres around the world or anything depending on the context and whose perspective we look at. But believe me you, killing thousands of innocent people and shuttering the futures of many others by these terrorist acts is one of the worst things a human being can do irrespective of motive. I spent at least 6 hours this morning looking at television footage on CNN as events unfolded in NYC and my heart bleeds for those affected. Condolences to the families of those who died on the planes, in the offices and indeed the federal officials who died in the crushes as they tried to rescue others. Shame to those all over the world celebrating this.

I am in Malaysia attending the Executive Committee of the Global Knowldge Partnership and we had reports of threats to bomb the Petronas Twin towers here which happen to be the tallest in the world. But I guess we will be fine and our meeting will continue.

And here's what my friend had to say:

Yes Oliver,
Where are you now? Malaysia or Singapore? I could not
believe what I have just been watching on the TV in my
hotel room a few hours ago: America under America for
real and Live on both CNN and BCC.

It has been very very horrific and terrifying to watch
America under attack as I got clued to my TV, CNN Live
watch of the incidents in DC, NYC and elsewhere within
the States in the last three hours ago. I can not
imagined that I was at those two or twin Centre
buildings just only four weeks ago in NYC. Today they
stand no more. Amazing indeed. Above all I can not
just imagine what's gonna come out of all this!! Only
in God we take hope, courage, faith and future. We are
praying for the American people and its leadership in
such a catastrophic and devastating moment of life
that they will find solace in Jesus Christ and that
God will grant them the courage, stamina, peserverance
and patience necessary and vital to climb this
mountainous and momentous time in the life of the
great country America..

Helping connect Zambia schools

As the IEARN Country coordinator (therefore country coordinator for all programmes under Schools Online, WorLD and Alliance for Global Learning) I am happy that we have finally found some money to connect one Zambian school to the Internet. We shall buy a computer, printer, scanner, etc. At my age and considering my country this is great!!!

It is one school at a time. Who knows, soon it will be 100 Zambian schools? I hope one day TIG and others will help our NGO and me create a communication and information centre for youths and youth NGOs in Zambia. Under SEEDS (www.seedsproject.org) we have managed to create an Empowerment Centre for students of the University who would want to go out of their way to make this a better world.
